Conservatives are attacking Vice Presidential debate moderator Gwen Ifill, saying she’s probably biased towards Obama.
Ifill, a host on the news channel for higher IQ folk, PBS (no, I don’t watch it), is also author of a forthcoming book “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.” It is presumed that she is biased towards Obama because of the book, and as a subtext, because she is black.
What the conservatives are doing is the same tactic they’ve been using against the media since the 1970’s – working the referee. By drawing attention to Ifill, they are hoping she will be self-conscious, and will back off playing hardball with Barbie.
The tactic usually works. We’ll see.

It’s that sing-songeeee voice that we haven’t heard since the Honeymooners that’s driving everyone bonkers. Whatever is funny about that pitch is only that much funnier when adding the echo coming from the West Wing. Oh,I guess the mannerisms don’t hurt the total package either. America needs a good laugh.

Did you notice how Palin got the GOP required media jab in at the end of the debate? Quote:
“I like being able to answer these tough questions without the filter, even, of the mainstream media kind of telling viewers what they’ve just heard. I’d rather be able to just speak to the American people like we just did.”
Right… “liberal media bias”, straight out of the GOP playbook. Maybe she should prepare for sit down interviews the way she does for debates. Then she wouldn’t come off sounding like such an idiot.
I wonder how much needling the mainstream media will take before someone gets socked?

I think the tactic worked. Jim Lehrer did a great job of keeping Obama and McCain on focus when they tried to weasel their way out of straight answers to his questions.
When Palin blithely ignored Iffil’s questions, going off on some tangent on which she had been fully coached, Iffil made no attempt to rein her in, or to ask that she answer the question at hand.

I suspect we’ve seen the last of MSM Barbie for a while – she’ll stump and do interviews for FOX, but her only possible role at this time is to solidify the base. She’s useless for anything else.

The difference is Ed, Jim Lehrer eluded Cheney’s capture and waterboarding torture in Gitmo. By holding Iffil in those rat iinfested cells, they were able to force her to pen the manuscript for her upcoming book, thus leaving her unable to constrain Palin into staying on topic for fear of appearing partisan.
