Lawless times

Not even in the darkest days of the Cold War did countries flaunt international laws regarding asylum. I blame 911 for this, opening Pandora’s box, turning the U.S. (and puppets) into an openly criminal enterprise, allowing its dark forces to operate in sunlight.

Smaller countries do not really amount to much in Washington or London’s view these days. What will be interesting is to see how much will come out in terms of the real game being played here. Nobody seems to remember that the prime accuser of Julian Assange – Anna Ardin in Sweden – used to work for extreme anti-Castro publications funded by the CIA. So there are links there, and it doesn’t require a conspiratorial attitude to see that the only way they can get at Julian Assange is by trumped-up charges of sexual indiscretions in a country that is hypersensitive to that, and they haven’t even persuaded a judge in Sweden to make those charges.

They have had ample opportunity to go to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and question Julian Assange. They said, ‘we’re not going to do that.’ Now, why is that? The reason is, there is no case against Julian Assange. In my opinion, it’s all very transparent. They want to extradite him to Sweden, and then to the United States to suffer the same indignities, the same torture of Bradley Manning – the person who allegedly gave those documents to Julian Assange – has faced. This is a violation of the First Amendment in our country and other amendments in our Bill of Rights, and I dare say that our founding fathers are rolling in their graves to see a [publisher] treated this way in violation of the right to make things known that are otherwise hidden. (Ray McGovern, former CIA agent turned political activist)

      1. I think it is a good sign that you are staring to plagiarize commies from the 20th century rather than the 19th century. Who knows? You might catch up with the modern world yet.

    1. I don’t think it protects Americans much. The others will have to speak for themselves. Anyway, McGovern is referring to Manning, and not Assange, and Manning has sure in the hell not been availed of any constitutional protection.

      1. Wrong. The quoted material obviously refers to Assange, not Manning:

“They want to extradite [Assange] to Sweden, and then to the United States…. This is a violation of the First Amendment in our country and other amendments in our Bill of Rights….”

In any event, Manning is a soldier and subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), which was established by an act of Congress. Until such time as the US Supreme Court overturns the UCMJ as unconstitutional, Manning has no rights under the US Constitution.

        1. I think in the larger context he is referring to Manning … McGovern is No fool but could have misspoken. Nonetheless, Manning is protected by international agreements on torture and such that the US has signed, though his protection there is about as good as that of constitution. It’s just a piece of paper if we do not have honorable people in power.

  1. It is nice to see that you can gather your wits together and realize your mistakes. Perhaps if you did not have a preprogrammed reaction to everything the US Government does, you would make less mistakes.

As for Manning, rather than making sly suggestions, let us know when the “dark forces” actually start torturing the poor boy.

As for Assange, the guy is documented creep. I can think of no better punishment for him than to be forever stuck in Ecuador surrounded by creeps.

    1. Media has such power! A man happens to be a whistleblower, but is OK, and then happens to report leaks on US and is suddenly a sexual predator. Good grief, don’t be so easy!

NY Times has also reported on leaks. The place must be crawling with sexual predators.

      1. I dont think the corporate media or us Gov ever thought Julian was “ok”. As for the Times they probably are a bunch of deviant pervs there too.
