Not only is there no God, but try getting justice from our justice system

The title above is a take on a quote by Woody Allen, “Not only is there no God, but try getting a plumber on weekends.” I am in a funk now, the Mann v Steyn et al court case in DC being decided in the defendants’ favor, but the jury inexplicably awarding punitive damages to Michael Mann in the amount of $1 million against Mark Steyn.

I might write more later, maybe not, as this is such a stain on jurisprudence. But then, what did I expect? I’ve been personally involved with the court system, and found as the scions of justice imprisoned an innocent man for fifteen years and then allowed a guilty man to go free that there is no justice, and that we should not expect it.

Michael Mann is a xxxxxxxxxx human being. He is xxxxx, xxxxxxx, and xxxxx. He is said to be a crack scientist, but I’ve seen no reason to think that. I have to believe he is 1) a hired gun, and 2) a xxxxxxxxx. Who better to attack and defame honest and courageous people than such a man as Mann?

Ask Judith Curry, a truly accomplished doctoral scholar and scientist. She worked for a while at Penn State while Mann was there, and he complained to a colleague at NASA that she had “slept her way to a PhD.” Mann thought she was a doctoral candidate, when in fact Curry was gainfully employed by Penn State and had already attained her doctorate. She was innocently dating a man who had been divorced for a year. Supposedly a private email, because it went to the “NASA” archives, it became public record. From there, it was forwarded to Curry’s colleagues at Georgia Tech, where she was then employed, and where they monitor everything being said about the institution and its employees. She “Googled” her name, and found page after page repeating the slur, and realized her career was over. Mann had successfully defamed her.

Why did she not sue the bastard? No time, and maybe she knew then that Mann was juiced and that there was no justice to he had.

Dr. Tim Ball repeated an old joke, that Mann belonged in the “State Penn rather than at Penn State”. Mann, who is backed by an undisclosed sugar daddy and has never paid a dime for all his lawsuits, sued Ball in British Columbia. Ball defended himself, had to pay legal fees all the way, and won. Mann was ordered to pay all legal expenses on both sides. He walked away, and Dr. Tim Ball died penniless. We cannot force even Mann’s sugar daddy to pony up.

I was wary of this legal outcome, as Mann is obviously juiced and cannot lose, will not lose unless someday there is a real judgment day. In the Climategate emails, he referred at one point to his partners in crime at East Anglia to “our closeted friends.” The presumption there is that he meant “closest”, but here Mann is, for once, being truly clever. No, he meant closeted.

I am going to repeat a comment I made the other night to our friend and commenter, TimR, as it expresses my angst more than I am capable of rendering at this point. Tim in the comment above referred to someone offering high praise for heat pumps, a weak substitute for fossil fuels if anyone wants to stay truly warm when it gets truly cold. Heat pumps cannot replace the comfort of clean and warm air flow produced by natural gas. I can offer no more today.

The move to heat pumps is, like all of the climate alarmist solutions to a problem that does not exist, foolish, as if the technology does not work outside of the scrawls of supposed gurus on paper napkins, then they will do severe damage to our ability to sustain our current lifestyles. The alarmists love to portray how we live as gluttons and have falsely decided that CO2 is an evil byproduct of living a clean and prosperous life. I think these are wildly misinformed people or misanthropes who either by sheer ineptitude and aggressive stupidity or mere evil intent are out to inflict massive harm on humanity.

We have massive stores of coal, oil and natural gas that will see well us in perpetuity. If those resources are to be replaced, it needs to be done using the principle of conservatism … first, do no harm. Shifting to wind and solar is a fool’s errand, as neither technology is reliable and both are harmful to the environment that their proponents claim to love. Further making that switchover ludicrous, presuming that CO2 emissions are dangerous (an unproven claim reinforced by brute propaganda backed by crap science), both wind and solar demand more CO2 to manufacture the hardware than is replaced thereafter.

It is tulip mania writ large. Gurus like Bill Gates, who supposedly read all those books (I assure you he did not), are little men behind the green curtain who others follow due to inability to think on their own. Gates knows this, knows he is a sock puppet for charlatans, and like the supposed “97% consensus” among scientists, is merely a way of assuring people that their inability to think and research for themselves will be rewarded by reliance on “experts.” As I like to say about Gates, knowing he was put in place by DARPA and is no more than an Asperger’s poster child than any kind of genius, he has never written a line of computer code. His fortune is nothing more than a government reserve of gains produced by the same technologies that gave us Apple and Google, government-backed research that produced real advances in technology that was then handed over to supposed “geniuses” like Gates and Jobs, false fronts for the true nature of our engine of advancement, highly risky government research that the private sector won’t, can’t afford to touch. That’s how the world works.

Everything we know is wrong.

  1. Mother Nature, or the Great Mother, is how the world works. Man can only imitate/simulate (copy with no original). Words used as weapons against ‘natural law’ cannot change the fact that man is never the greater/greatest force. Nature always bats last. Foolish Mann/man.

  2. Mark, I would feel hopeful for the long term prospect of global warming/climate change turning into a massive embarrassment and overreach. It’s mostly confined to a small group of grifters composed of chemistry professors who know nothing about chemistry. From my experience climate scientists and nuclear scientists are a select group of low achievers who ride the coattails of a bloated corrupt university/government grant system. The second they actually tried to implement zero-carbon would be the day it would end. The liberals who populate most of university cities in America would not be able to get any handymen to fix or work on anything in their house, because everyone who does actual work in this country (contractors, cleaners, landscapers, plumbers, etc.) relies on petroleum burning vehicles to move about.

  3. Speaking of useful things statistics can do, it would be interesting to model how much fakery and grifting a civilization can withstand before collapse. The great Star Trek episode “Mirror, Mirror”, which presents the current state of the world I believe we entered in 2020, where evil is good, etc. has a great scene where they ask Spock to predict the end of the empire based on the current corrupt state, for which he provides an estimate of a few hundred years in the future. I believe we may have entered the time when major hoaxes can no longer work. For example, in 2022 they started the war in Ukraine, which was immediately obvious to anyone with open eyes as complete BS. Every hoax since is quite pathetic (Monkeypox anyone?), and has very little popular support.

  4. The troubling aspect of this verdict is that even though the prosecution did not do a good job of presenting the case, even having one witness accidentally saying that Mann had suffered due to Climategate when he was supposed to say the articles Mann sued about, the jury decorated his Christmas tree!

Mann got exactly what he wanted, punishment of his critics. I have to believe that this trial, just like the Penn State whitewash of his Climategate affairs, was rigged.

    1. Mark, the (scumbag) Masonic judges can put on their black robes and bang their gavels and be masters of their domain, the courtroom, but as Steve nicely pointed out, their pretend mastery ends outside their hallowed halls, and natures laws take over.

  5. Hm.. you do realize Mark Steyn is a television presenter, and guest-hosted Tucker Carlson among others? He’s just like Alex Jones being sued for Sandy Hook.
The whole court case is just a scripted charade.

  6. Off topic-
John Dvorak of No Agenda had a good grammar rant last show. Journalists are always saying “so and so falsely claimed..” Now this always grates on me as well because of the presumptuous “we are the official truth arbiters” subtext it implies.

But Dvorak argues it’s an inherently nonsensical construction, just grammatically speaking.. I’m not sure I follow him, but maybe he means that if you’re labeling something a “claim” you’re already saying it’s something that may just be in this person’s head. So if you then add “falsely,” that adjective describes, not the truth value of the claim itself, but rather whether or not that person really believes their own claim. Which you can’t possibly know.

It’s a bit hard to unpack. Certainly it would be less obnoxious from any angle if they just left it at “X claimed..” But I think they enjoy being obnoxious and it’s probably a job requirement the hiring producers look for.
