NBC fact-checks Sarah Palin

The whole point of the Palin assault on our intelligence has been to get the lies out there and in circulation before anyone could challenge them. And the McCain people have done so. It matters little now that, two weeks later, NBC is finally doing its job. It’s way too late.

A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes. (Mark Twain, attributed.)

  1. No it’s not too late! She’s getting flayed by the media fact checkers, and her poll numbers are going down accordingly. This is good. Lighten up!!

  2. Theocratic rule needs no facts. Divinely inspired beliefs substitute for reason and intellect. It’s how Republicans energize their base. Smart people are labeled “elitist” to belittle and marginalize non-believers. Thinking has become a crime the ultra-right cannot tolerate.

Not to worry. There’s no chance you will be going to jail.

  4. Because the jails are full of pot smokers? Punishment meted out by past theocrats has included stocks, racks, burning at the stake, beheading, and hanging among other public displays that maximize fear among infidels.

  5. Looks like the Canadian press is getting the facts out Palin too.

“According to Heather Mallick, Sarah Palin could only bring the white trash vote of the country and it is McCain who had sewn it up. She further goes on to call Palin an Alaskan hillbilly. She then describes why she thinks the duo of McCain and Palin to be a white trash.”

  6. Did you watch the Hannity interview? This is stupid that goes all the way to the bone. She’s not white trash – that’s a bit much, but she should be called out for her lack of intellectual capacity. She’s not exactly presidential timbre.

Then again, Hannity probably checks in around 90-95 on the IQ scale too. Scary thing is, the American people, as Rachel Maddow said, prefer dumb and tough over smart. They will elect an idiot over an egghead.

  7. And that’s why we should all be happy that Rudy Giuliani had a bunch of idiots running his campaign. If he had run an even half-intelligent campaign that didn’t skip Iowa and New Hampshire, he would be the nominee.

And he would win. Of that I have little doubt.
