For those not familiar with that reference, Ruby maintained throughout his stay in prison that he was framed – not that he did not kill Lee Harvey Oswald, but rather that he had no choice.
“The world will never know the true facts of what occurred–my motives. . . . Unfortunately, the people that had so much to gain and had such an ulterior motive, and who put me in the position I’m in, will never let the true facts come aboveboard to the world.”

Assange appears to be playing a game here – he is raising his profile, possibly buying assassination insurance. There is no doubt that the Obama people want him jailed, and probably dead. The combination of corporate and government activities to shut down Wikileaks ought to raise eyebrows everywhere, but we are a land of shaved brows.
But if Assange’s profile is kept high, killing him becomes problematic, as any “accidental” death would everywhere (except in the American media) be regarded with suspicion.
Here in the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave public opinion does not favor Assange and Wikileaks. We are a most docile people, not even needing locks on our jail cells.
He’s too valuable, like Osama, to waste. The government and big corporates want internet regulations and now have one more “national security” propaganda card to play to get what they want. Nevermind, some are already asking openly: what nation? No global crisis goes to waste, not even an insignificant one that might simply give others bright ideas of their own.

after reading some articles suspicious of the original financing of Wikileaks, i think it’s plausible that WL was a controlled data dump that our intelligence apparatus lost control of, which is why they are so rabid to get Assange, because he turned on them, like that other CIA asset, bin Laden.

Fascinating! This is Puzzle Palace all over again. You never know who to trust.
It has occurred to me that the easiest way to put an end to Wikileaks would be to leak false documents, much in the manner that Dan Rather was deep-sixed by the Bushies.
And then there is speculation that Wikileaks was not a threat that they thought very much of until Assange mentioned that he was going to do a dump on a Wall Street bank. Then his funding was shut off, and he ended up under British arrest.
All too much for me …
