I’m going to try to write some as we travel, offering keen and unique insight. Or, I might just write like I normally write. It’s going to be good to get away from our circus here, our orchestrated politics, our controlled media and mindless hackery, and get into theirs. I mean, are people really that different in other places?
Anything I write will be on the iPad. I’m not very good on it, and don’t know how to move photos up to a blog. Maybe I’ll figure it out.
Enjoy! St. Peter’s, Bourghese, and Trevi are cultural treasures left behind that should not be missed. A nice contrast to America’s possible legacy: ghettos, land fills and recycle centers? Too early to tell, we’re still in our adolescent years.

Our hotel will be close to the Trevino, but we are having difficulty getting passes for Bourghese. We get there at 1:00 AM our time and then starts our day, with the Sistene at 3:00 that afternoon. We’ll be wasted but we have to make that time transition right away.

Have a good trip Mark. Don’t bother giving us updates as the wordpress IPad app will just give you a huge headache once you figure that it’s only good for producing half a post. I think we can get our snark elsewhere for a short time.

I have been using the IPad app for writing, and it is pretty basic. But if I start a post in the app, and then switch over to Safari and go into edit mode, everything is available. Odd thing, IPad will not let me go to the WordPress dashboard or start a new post when I am in Safari.

The Beehive, a hostel/hotel near (2-3 blocks) the train station, is budget with lots of interesting people not on “organized” tours — very much worth a look. Kitchen privileges make the food experience much more affordable, and less of a crap shoot. Good grocery at the train station has it all.

Thanks – we booked the whole trip, since Europe is on vacation in August. Next time we’ll have a better feel for it.
We are going to try not to be Americans. My wife and I are both soft spoken and low-key, so we won’t be singing the national anthem in pubs. But I guess Americans have quite a reputation for being loud and a bit boorish.

Too bad you aren’t going to Trieste to lean about the history of the region and visit Maximillian’s castle. The Austrian’s rule the area according to knowledgeable locals.

In Prague, beer is ‘pivo’. Velky pivo–large beer. mali pivo–small beer. don’t make the mistake I did trying to order a small beer–translated, it came out as “pedophile beer”.
