Absolutely, I agree. There are fewer disciplinary tools in force when foreign journalists interview powerful people. If she confronted Russian power, she would soon be selling flowers in market square. She would shrivel like Blitzer did as he faced Cheney.
That’s why it’s generally a good idea to go to foreign sources for domestic news, or at least counter-cultural ones.
