In the news this morning about the tragedy in Aurora, we learn that President Obama is “shocked and saddened” and that Mitt Romney is “saddened” but apparently not shocked. Score one for Obama.
That’s important to know. But it would really be news worthy of print if either admitted that they were distant, uninvolved and indifferent, the likely situation.

Here is what I overheard this morning: The shooting happened right as the local PD was in shift change, so the place was full of cops, and the police response was amazing. Tha shooter did not plan to be caught, but the police were there so quickly that they caught him going to his car.
I believe in the death penalty, by the way. I can’t help thinking about Tarantino’s movie, Inglourious Basterds.
