Desperation in DC?

This rarely happens, and is a sign of how bad it has gotten in DC. Even the Bush Administration people never swung so low. From Moon of Alabama:

The President of Russian Federation Putin just called U.S. Secretary of State Kerry a liar. This because Kerry insisted, in contradiction to U.S. intelligence and recent news reports, that the al-Qaeda affiliated fighters in Syria are only a shrinking minority of the Syrian opposition.

Kerry asserted that the armed opposition to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “has increasingly become more defined by its moderation, more defined by the breadth of its membership, and more defined by its adherence to some, you know, democratic process and to an all-inclusive, minority-protecting constitution.

“And the opposition is getting stronger by the day,” Kerry told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday.”

To this Putin responded:

Mr Putin said: “This was very unpleasant and surprising for me. We talk to them (the Americans) and we assume they are decent people, but he is lying and he knows that he is lying. This is sad.

  1. That is a funny quote..but coming from a professional spook its not really carrying a lot of weight. On the same token that you say the United States does not have the moral authority to call others to task on issues of violent atrocities its equally laughable to imply that Putin has the moral authority to claim he and his cronies are more “decent” because they are supposedly more “truthful”. Im thinking igf Putin were in Bush/Obamas shoes he probably would have attacked a lot sooner and ran through Iran and Syria when the US had momentum back in 2003-04. He is doing a pretty good job of running circles around the administration rhetorically though.

    1. Fair point. I think we can agree that there is ineptitude in this administration. I would go further and suggest that it will likely be addressed by rolling heads. I do not like thee, Dr. Fell – John Kerry gives me that same creepy feeling that George HW Bush and Cheney do – freeze them, study them some time in the future to see if they are human. Impeachment too is not out of the question though in our modern-day US, that does not mean better hands on deck.

  2. Panic has set in. With a debt ceiling vote looming, Obama needs “cover” in order to go along with suspending Pentagon budget cuts caused by his sequester idea. “Wag-the’dog” must work or it wouldn’t be such a popular distraction. Domestic programs will probably take the heaviest hit in the thickest man-made fog since NDAA.
