I’ve had quite a time since our return from Kenya. For one, I’ve suffered from what I am calling “Hakuna Matata’s” revenge, thinking that Hakuma was just a character in the movie Lion King, rather than a Swahili phrase meaning “no worries.” (I never saw the movie.) Enough about that. In addition, maybe part of the whole, I came down with respiratory troubles, aka head cold. Couple all of that with east-west jet lag (we traveled out ten times zones and back in two weeks), and I’ve been overwrought. The result is that I write long posts like the one (formerly) down below (now removed) about dieting, which occur at 2 and 3AM, and for which I devote considerable brain muscle, all for naught as no one reads them.
I have decided that a paragraph I inserted as an afterthought will be enough on the subject, and so unlike me, ’nuff said.
I notice a lot of what is considered “healthy eating” in restaurants – a preference for salads and greens and quinoa over a nice juicy burger. I regard this as an affectation, as no way do greens produce the healthy glow we get from basking in burger juice running down our chins. Slap me around for this, but it seems to me to be mostly women who are abstaining from healthy meals in this manner. Are they different at home? I regard that burger juice as a sign of “healthy eating” in a truer sense, as our bodies do not seek out lettuce over meat. That is learned behavior, and oh so very wrong. American diets are whacked in that we overindulge in things like pizza and French fries, and avoid a true source of solid nutrition, meat. To foresake a burger or chunk of salmon for a leafy treat? It is so ass backwards.
Read. Agree. 🙂

I read the article it was a decent read. There’s always a constant vibe to lose weight, everyone even skinny people, at some point wants to lose weight or go on a diet. Fasting works, but afterwards there is an intense desire to eat alot.

Mark, there is a war on eggs right now. The perfect food. I eat probably half my calories from eggs. Because it’s the only healthy food in the goddamn supermarket, and was cheap. As far as I know they can’t make fake eggs – yet – though no doubt they are desperately trying.

This article makes a case it’s intentionally restricted supply –

Also fish eggs, raw meat, raw fish – the best food there is. Veggies if you insist. And nuts if you must.
My Italian ancestors used to live on lard, toast, curdled milk, and oatmeal for several months, and even years- first hand account. I like eggs better.

My man is Vonderplanitz – primal – and you’re right over it.
Basically, raw butter, raw eggs, raw meat. Obviously quality is paramount.

I like this guy, I read all his stuff for a while. He’s pretty hard core on the carnivore diet, and I think he’s mostly right.
His numerology writings are good.

Being Fully Nourished Will “Protect” Against UV-Induced Skin Damage – Joachim Bartoll Official
Here is a good article of his I agree with. I have been conducting experiments on myself the past few years, using no sunscreen. I haven’t had a sunburn in many years, and never wore sunscreen while hiking or biking in the sun all day in my teens through forties. I do have fair skin though, as I got really bad burns at the beach as young child, and my father is a redhead.
That said, if you “condition” your skin by repeated doses of sunlight you do not need sunscreen. I wore none last trip in Thailand, and exposed myself to hours of sun a day, avoiding noontime sun. And the side effect of lots of sunlight is being healthier mentally and physically.

Thanks for this guy.
My fair skin FRIED all the way through to adulthood and beyond.
Like you, these days: zero sunscreen. Above 10,000′ (in the U.S.) is the real test.

I have two poached eggs, two sausages and two strips of bacon each morning and never tire of the meal. Lately I’ve added Keto sandwich thins, bread made mostly of fiber (which our bodies do not digest) – such a treat to be able to eat bread again!
There are drugs on the market now to curb appetites, giving people a sated feeling before overeating. They appear to work. Right now it is just by prescription (and off-label for nutritionists who are smart enough not to follow their own advice). I know some morbidly obese people who would benefit, and side effects cannot be worse than carrying around all of that blubber.

I read your late night musings and found it a good read, but could have been two or three posts for easier, er, digestion maybe..
Wrote my own long reply, so much so that the site probably timed out on my phone and my comment vaporized.
Also unable to comment now, except as reply to other comments..? WordPress weirdness I guess.

The piece is still there in trash. Maybe I will do as you suggest, three shorter pieces.
