We are in Maui celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We have a little condo near Napilli Bay, where the swimming and snorkeling is a little more tolerable for people of our advancing years. We went to Black Rock yesterday, and the power of the undertow and waves made it difficult, even as we watched little kids navigate it all with ease. The little shits.

The above video, which I think you can preview on Facebook, is a short talk by Sall Grover (never heard of her either) about transgenderism, which she addresses head-on as nonsense. Men are men, women are women, and no one is trapped in another’s body. But man, can the people behind these movements sell their claptrap! there are university professors selling it, and of course, elementary and high school teachers who are bought in.

Of course, I’ve never looked to teachers at that level as having any real smarts. While at the same time selling this stuff, they are also scaring the kids into thinking they’ve no future due to climate change. Were they just a tad smarter, I would call them apparatchicks. But they are indeed useful idiots.

The second link below the fold is for musically inclined people. It has Leonard Bernstein explaining what Beethoven was up to in his second movement of Symphony #9. We once had a writer here who was a musical prodigy himself, and I complained to him that most of the musical score of Bernstein’s West Side Story was not very satisfying. He told me that bernstein wrote the music to follow the plot, and that when the plot had no closure, neither did the music. When closure was necessary, as with the Song Maria, Bernstein was more than up to the task.

WordPress, which insists I use their program called Gutenberg to write this, will not let me edit it further or even install a page break. They claim Gutenberg is far superior to their regular editor, which they charge extra for, but I find it unworkable. It reminds me of software programs far superior to Word and Excel that were squeezed out of the marketplace by the power of Microsoft’s inferior products and superior marketing power.
