Are Headlines in 2025 More Alarmist Than Ever?

Is it just me, or do the headlines in 2025 feel unusually alarmist…and bizarre? I don’t typically spend much time digging into the news, and I avoid watching it on television altogether because of its impact on my mental health. My exposure to mainstream media has mostly been limited to quick glances at MSN tabs featuring lighthearted stories like “5 Sandwiches to Order at Restaurants and 5 to Avoid” or “14 Worst Restaurant Chains We Thought Were the Best.”

However, the tone of the news this year seems to have escalated dramatically—and we’re only a week in. Here’s a snapshot of the concerning and chaotic headlines so far:

Health Crises

  • Disease X: The Next Pandemic? This “hypothetical” pathogen underscores the unpredictability of global health threats in our interconnected world.
  • Rising Illness in England: Reports indicate a “concerning” number of hospitalizations due to winter illnesses.
  • Flu Surge in the U.S.: The CDC has flagged an alarming increase in flu cases, with emergency room visits reaching “very high” levels.
  • China’s Dual Threat: Chinese hackers reportedly infiltrated the U.S. telecom network for 18 months, while China also claims to face a new outbreak of COVID.
  • Norovirus: Florida claiming an alarming increase in cases.
  • Bird Flu: Allegedly now infecting dairy cows.

Global Conflicts and Climate Concerns

  • Theater of War: Tensions persist in Ukraine, Syria, and Israel, keeping global conflicts at the forefront.
  • Prophetic Climate Change?: The drying Euphrates River—linked by some to the book of Revelation—is being attributed to climate change.

Unsettling Events

  • Mysterious Happenings: Reports of a “drone attack” and an eerie “fog invasion” have sparked intrigue.
  • Military Movements: Speculation surrounds trucks deployed from Fort Bragg…er Liberty, obvious psyops activity. One event alluding to Musk (Tesla) and Trump.
  • Natural Disasters: Headlines highlight increasing threats of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and tsunamis.

Political Turmoil

  • Leadership Shifts: The U.S. is two weeks away from inaugurating its most divisive president, following the death of what many consider the most ineffectual U.S. President in a century.
  • Canada: Trudeau is rumored to be resigning today, 1/6, the same day of the infamous American “insurrection”. The last nail for him likely due to dancing at a Taylor Swift concert during protests in Montreal.

Astrological Predictions

According to YouTube astrologers, 2025 marks the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, a period of rebirth and renewal. They predict significant societal shakeups as humanity shifts toward creativity and a deeper connection with nature. As the saying goes, “You have to break some eggs to make an omelet.”

The year has barely begun, yet the intensity of these headlines (real or manufactured) feels foreboding. If this is any indication, 2025 might be a wild ride.

      1. PS: “”The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” – H. L. Mencken

I have seen this quote using the word “most” instead of all”.

      2. “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

        1. While I am skeptical of any alleged historical figures that quote is perfection.

Douglass was the first African-American nominated for vice president of the United States as the running mate for Victoria Woodhull. Take that Hillary and Hussein! LOL

  1. I looked up the difference between colds and flu one time, to find that colds are caused by a number of viruses while influenza was limited to just two. The symptoms are, once you remove power of suggestion, identical. I realized that I had been stupidly wise in never having taken a flu shot, and further that I had never had “the flu”. It doesn’t exist.

  2. A non-normie on fb said we’re going into a peak of sunspot activity, threatening mass awakening, so the mighty wurlitzer is working furiously to keep everyone in their mental cells. It’s a theory, I guess.

Meanwhile millions went this weekend to see Sonic the Hedgehog, and everyone envies them their total indifference to global Armageddon on all fronts.

  3. Just looks like the same old news stories as my entire life. Except for the ozone layer hole, just replace Russians with Chinese.
