Life in the desert

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. (Voltaire)

I looked this up on the Internet to assure its validity and wound up at Ask.com. Indeed it is a genuine quote, and the following exchange took place:

Question: i couldnt understand thi thought..what does it mean?..u guyz pls explain to me this in simple words?..thanks in advance!! [sic]

Best answer chosen by voters: He is saying that people who are persuasive enough to make you believe something all logic tells you is untrue can also make you do things that your heart tells you not to do.

Take Hitler for instance. …

I stopped there thinking “Aye carumba! Bring it a little closer to home and the present, friend.”

    1. Your schtick gets really old, Swede. Here in one little statement you’ve used a straw man and cited a statistic without any context. Go away, come back when you have thought things over.

      1. You know, Big Swede voted for Romney so you know Swede isn’t even conservative and you know he hasn’t any principles. I mean for months he hated Romney based on lots of principles, then like magic, he just switched and sold out all his principles because he was told to.

That’s what I thought of from your post. I though yeah, heh heh, Big Swede voted for Romney. What a hotdog.
